3-week-old chicks in Kenya are entering a critical growth phase marked by rapid physical and behavioral development. To support natural behaviors such as scratching and wing stretching, provide ample space and ensure good ventilation, dry bedding, and fresh drinking water. These conditions reduce the risk of respiratory problems and digestive disorders, which are common in poorly managed environments. Their feed intake rises considerably during this period, so it’s important to offer high-quality starter or grower feed formulated to support feather development, bone strength, and immune health.

You can now introduce gentle enrichment tools like low perches to encourage movement and build muscle strength in preparation for adult housing systems. Daily health checks remain essential. Watch for signs of uneven growth, feather picking, or illness. Vaccinations or health supplements are often administered at this stage to build disease resistance.
